I have a LJ 4100 that has just had a new roller kit put into it. As well as a new fuser. It has worked fine for about 2 weeks. Now when it prints from any tray including the manual tray it makes a loud crunching noise, and spits out a print that is off centered. By the sound it makes you woudl expect the printer to jam but it never does. I can not pin point the exact location of the noise but it appears to be coming from directly behind the feed roller for the manual feed tray. I have checked the paper paths and they seem to be completely clear, I even swapped toners with another printer. There is also a roller that looks like a Q-tip that has a rubber band on it that seems loose which coudl be an issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Erik

Do a half-test. With paper in the manual feed, print a configuration page (or any page) and stop the printer (lift the toner door) just after the page enters the printer. The toner will not be fused onto the page yet. Pull out the toner cartridge, and check the page. Is the paper crooked? Is the print crooked? This is a good tool to use to trounleshoot problems. Report back what you find.

Have a nice day today, and a better day tomorrow!!!

Thanks Bisa,

That would have helped...

I did fortunately find the culprit. It was a little piece of a lable stuck on one of the guides under the set of hard plastic black and white rollers behind the manual feed assembly.
