Hi

I have a small network without a server, DHCP is handled by a DSL router, I have just added a 4050 to the network and i can ping it by name (name.lan) and address, I would like to allow any pc on the network to be able to print to it - how can I do this?

regards

Just put in the IP of the printer in the driver on each client accessing it. The router will pass on an IP to the printer if it is set to DHCP or boot on the JetDirect card.

I just found out that I need to set this up as if the printer were attached locally to the client machine, and then create a TCP/IP port, then I can enter the printer name or IP address.

This works great in Windows 2000, but in Win98 I do not get the option to create a TCP/IP port?

Anyone help?

Get this file and install it : ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/hpspm98.exe
It will launch automatically next time when you use the Add printer function from the printers menu in the control panel. It will search your network for printer or you can type in the IP manually.

Thanks hpwizzard - i've been a complete idiot, I had the disk all along, all I had to do was run through the ustom setup routine!!

Alls working well now!

Cheers
