About 2" from the right side, especially noticable when printing photos, the color is washing out.

I have changed the cartridges, and I recently changed the transfer belt. Additionally, I cleaned the "lenses" behind the cartridges where the laser shines through onto the OPC drums.

(By the way, if you ever have to change a transfer belt in one of those things, get ready for a solid hour of work.... what a nightmare)

If this were a regular printer (i.e. 4000), I would have bet on the transfer roller (that is why I changed the transfer belt). If it were a copier, I would have bet on the corona wire. This one has me stumped. Anyplace else you guys think I should look? Thanks in advance.

This printer (and the CLJ 2600 for that matter..) has had numerous issues related to the DC-controllers handling of the fusing causing "undesired" smears on printouts.
To check whether it's a fuser/dc-ontroller issue try and perform a sort of half-test where you will interrupt a printjob so the paper stops just before the fuser.
Examine the paper and check whether the smears are present at that time, if not it's the fusing that causes smears.
If fusing is the cause try another media and/or change papertype settings in an attempt to adjust the fuser temp.
If the smearing appears before the fusing stage you have an inconsistency in the charge on either the belt or the paper.
In that case inspect all connectors and run an extra cleaning on these with propyle alcohol. If smears are still present after that... My best suggestion would be to check on the HV psu part of the printer.
Good luck [wink]

It's not really indicative of a fuser smear... more like it's just not collecting enough toner on that area of the paper (which is why I replaced the transfer belt assembly). If it were just one color that was washed out, I would suspect the OPC drum for that color; but it seems to be all of the colors.

I can certainly interrupt a print job and see if it is pre- or post-fuser issues. I'll let you know.

Thanks... you truly are a wizzard.

So, if it's washed out it would look more like fading or blurred ?
Does this issue appear in just one or more colors ?
When you cleaned the scanners, did you clean them both in-, and outside ?
.oO(Another known issue with these printers are their tendency to get inside laser scanner toner contamination)
