My company is currently considering Mitel (among other vendors) as replacement for our voice network but I'm concerned about scalability issues. If we were to replace our entire network at once we'd need over 80 PBXs, various flavors of the 3300 line. Do any of you know of any IP-networked Mitel systems anywhere near that size or larger?

AUCHAN Group across the pond has several hundred Mitel IP systems networked "worldwide" - unsure what that means exactly. Rumor going around is that Auchan is looking next at doing their USA locations. I think their hdqs is in France. A major one here in the US is Compusa, all stores coast to coast, couple hundred I heard.

CompUSA is the one I keep hearing about. That one plus the AUCHAN Group brings the total number of large Mitel deployments that I'm aware of up to two.

CompUSA has a 3300 and about 50 phones at each of their 230+ stores. I'm hoping a reference can be arranged but I don't know if they'll go for it.

Mitel coddles that acct cuz they're big. I think it was also a sweetheart deal for the service company that was tagged to provide support. Word is the customer is happy and that's what counts. Best phone system in the world will only work as well as your service company can make it work. With 80 sites you'll have their attention. Another big site I just thought of is American Family Insurance in Wisc. No idea how many systems but they're a big outfit and old mitel customers going back 15-20 yrs. Briggs & Stratton is another major user that's been with mitel for years and years.

MitelInMyBlood: Do they use Mitel in the call centre -> can't be? Is it?

The Mitel people speak rather highly of their call center stuff. I believe it has even won some industry awards of some sort, probably from some communications magazine. I haven't spoken to anyone who actually uses the Mitel call center stuff, though.

There call centre stuff is actually pretty good. We use it in the office and it works well. I still did not realise AC used it however? I thought it was a Nortel ACD.

It's been 10 years since I've been at an AC desk, so I can't say for sure what's there today. However, John is right, Mitel's ACD-2000 option (MSA-A-40) running in conjunction with Malcolm Teasdale's PrairieFyre CyberACD (formerly TASKE Toolbox) software (AKA Mitel 61xx) really blows most of the high-end systems away. Home Shopping Network was actually looking at it to replace their aging Rockwell Galaxy system, but I think the Mitel at the time maxed out at 350 seats and HSN was needing 1200. Anyone who has ever administered Mitel's ACD will rave about the reporting package. For all that it does, that thing sure is intuitive and straightforward to program.

I know that Air Canada still have atleast some Option 81/11c sites as some of the techs in my department actually service them. I'm in the west, is it possible the call center is Toronto? I'm curious!

Those who can, DO!
Those who can't, MANAGE! ;~)
