Hello all,
I have about 53 ERS switches that I am splitting into a few stacks consisting of 7 switches each on average. Manager want me to (among other things that ARE configurable in the stack) name every switch and configure a switch IP address for each one (regardless if that IP won't get used). Do I have to touch every single switch or is there a way that I can create configs for each switch and push those configs out to the stack, which would then push the configuration down to the switches. Can I configure individual switch names and IPs while a switch is in a stack? Thanks

did someone just ask this question??? NO. Once you put the switches in a stack configuration, it is seen as one single switch, which means 1 single IP.

This is what happens, people don't like the answer so they keep asking in the hope the answer will change to the one they want to hear :)

What I asked in the last thread was a fundamentally different question, but thanks for the info.

You always have to treat a stack as one single device. SNMP Server settings (name, contact, location) are also set for the whole stack. You can push a saved config onto all the other switches. I'm not sure if you can push a 7 unit stack config onto a four unit stack.
