I’m new to setting up and configuring RAID and want to make sure I have the correct supported devices to begin. I’m using an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe mb with the Promise PDC20378 controller. I’ve read ( ) that it is not recommended to set up a raid array using drives with capacities over 100 GB. Is this correct? I was planning on using two WD2000JB ultra ATA/100 and two WD2000JD SATA to set up raid 0+1 using all four drives. I realize that using an ultra ATA/133 (eg: Maxtor 6Y200P0) would be faster but I already have the ATA/100 HDDs and would like to continue using WD products.

As long as all your drives are the same size and your Motherboard recongizes them as the right size you shouldn't have any trouble.

Thanks for the advice, 1101...
The new HHD should be here in a few days and I'll give it my best shot (while keeping my fingers crossed)!
