I have a Toshiba LX25 laptop that quit booting, shut in 2 to 5 seconds after power initiation. I removed the HDD and attached to a PATA/USB pigtail through my desk top and can run /slavage files, however when I went to restart my desk top with the HDD in the USB slot, the computor made it through the initial windows bois then hung on a black screen. When I disconnected the HDD from the USB the desktop fininshed the startup sequece. I then replugged the damaged HDD and have spent the better part of the day scanning and cleaning. Any thoughts? Could this be a HDD issue a motherboard or a power supply? Please advise. PS Obviously when my desktop is up and hte unit is then pluged I see no appreciable issues on the DT when running.
