Laptop without Floppy drive

I got a laptop at no cost...it has no peripherals. I went out and got an external USB floppy but windows 2000 does not have a driver...How can I get the floppy working...
The other problem is I dont have internet capability yet...
Its almost worthless...Any ideas to get the USB Floppy going...

Sounds more like the need to get data interchange enabled. Does it have a network connection?
