Got a problem with a NEC Versa E400 laptop.
All runs well until the unit has been on a while then the 'A' key doesn't work. All other keys are fine.
I am wondering if it is anything to do with the CPU underneath the key ... wondering if the heat has anything to do with it.
Just reformatted it running XP pro.
I am guessing that the keyboard is a complete unit, so am wondering if the best solution is to get a USB keyboard, rather than spend a lot trying to get it fixed.

Any ideas on why this happened ???

Try getting a can of air, and spraying between the keys. Sometimes, dust gets lodged between the keys. I do this often, along with spraying all the air intakes to clear the dust from the fan, whenever the fan stays on for long periods of time.
