Laptop on docking station looses video

I have a user with a Compaq laptop that has a new problem that started a couple of days ago...when she powers on her laptop (on a docking station) boots up as normal until it gets to the Windows 2000 boot screen then the monitor goes black. The laptop continues and boots fine...just no video. You can pull it off of the docking station and everything is fine. I was able to boot into safe mode without loosing video on the monitor. Could this be a driver problem???
