i've got a packard bell easynote F series. since about 3 weeks ago it's not always been recognising i've got the mains plugged in. the blue battery symbol keeps appearing in the bottom righ of the screen. uplug the power and plug it back in 6 or 7 times and it eventually goes to mains power. in addition to displaying the battery symbol the screen also goes off.

the machine's only 6 months old - i've just spoken to packard bell support (pc service call in the UK) and they got me to download 2 bios patches which resolve known issues of this sort with this model laptop however it's not resolved it - it is however working at the moment after the sixth attempt at powering it.

anyone else encountered this problem??

Have you dropped it or pulled on the cord hard? Sounds like that you may have a damaged jack on the laptop or cord. If you know how to use a multimeter and have one I would do some testing in that direction.
