The monitor on my Dell Inspirion 8100 goes off after the computer has been on for a few minutes. Nothing short of reboot brings it back. Help?

Did you try holding the power button for about 1 second and then releasing it? What OS is loaded on it?

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

1) Func F8? will sometimes switch between LCD and external monitor.
2)You could open the LCD and reseat the ribbon cable(s).
3)LCD is going bad.

What do your Power Options look like through Control Panel?

I'm having the exact same problem. Monitor on the Inspiron 8100 goes into SUPER SUPER dim mode every 20 seconds. I hit Func-F8 and it goes back to normal...and dims again in 20 seconds.

I checked power options, set everything to 4 hours. Disabled hibernate. Made sure it wasn't trying to use a dual desktop.

NO LUCK!! What gives?!

Did you try running without the battery? Low battery indications may cause the computer to dim down to save power.
