Hello Folks
I have an e systems celeron 380 1.6Ghz laptop with 512Kb memory(256 on board and 256 sodimm)
Is there any advantage in upgrading the memory to 1Gb?.
It is used mostly for internet, playing DVDs,running Office
programs etc,not games.
I admit its a cheap laptop and runs ok but anyone thinking of getting one (its sold in PC World) beware that the battery life is about 1 hour and the sound quality is
really bad.
thanks in advance

Lemon13 is right.

There are quite a few options to increase performance by optimizing Windows without spending money, eg reducing programs running in the background, turning off visual effects etc...

BTW, you can check the memory usage with the Task Manager's Performance tab and see how close it gets to your 512MB.
