Laptop logs off user and goes back to logon screen. 1

Okay I am at the next step in my problem.
I am running my laptop in safe mode and it does not log me off and starts me at the logon screen.
From here I know that the problem is not with the hardware.
I would like to know is there any problems with Windows XP that would cause the system to log me off and puts me back at the log on screen?

Lots, check the event logs and switch to booting up with logging.
