I received a damaged IBM laptop in mail and I'm hoping someone here can give me with some advice on how to fix it. First, It boots up to the IBM screen then goes blank but you can hear the Windows music in the background. I hook it to a monitor and it works flawlessly. So I tried it again and I noticed by moving the lid screen, that I got a display but the slightest movement sent it to blank again. In hopes it was a loose ribbon I took it apart only to find out the connection WAS secure. Any ideas/advice? Btw, when i can get the LCD screen to display its a nice crisp picture whuch only bums me out all the more. Thanks in advance!!

I have had this on laptops before 9/10 its the ribbon at fault. You could try and find out how much the replacement is (if you can get one) and try replacing it.
Also how old is the laptop? It may still be under warranty.
