I have a Dell Inspirion Laptop.

Im having trouble installing an operating system on my laptop.

This laptop doen'nt come with a built-in cd-rom.
I've bought an external cd-rom but it's non-bootable.

How can I get the installation files onto this laptop's HDD?

Any help appreciated.

This question would probably do better in the PC Windows based forum, but I will try to help.

Does your laptop have a 3.5 floppy drive? That is probably the only way you will be able to load the OS. Dell should have supplied you with the disks to do a re-load.

Thanks for the reply.

Problem solved.

I downloaded the driver for the external cd-rom and installed it on the c: drive. This gave me access to the cd drive from which I installed the OS.
