Hi,

I have a Toshiba laptop which at current has a C:\ with 29GB on.

The laptop needs to be re-partitioned so that it has atleast 200MB free space in the lower 1GB of disk space and another partition with atleast 3GB free.

It must be in the lower part of the disk as the laptop currently runs Win2k, but needs to have unix installed also which apparently must have the lower part of the disk to be able to boot ?

Any help on how to go about doing this would be great.

Cheers

Sounds like an earlier version of Unix. What version? It makes a difference.
I do SCO, and the earlier need DOS first and and the Unix to use the balance of the disk. Later install the Unix first and leave space for the DOS,

ed,

I'm not sure what version of Unix is going on it, I work under the PC side @ my company and dont know anything about UNIX. All I know is what I have wrote above, that it must have the lower partition to be able to boot UNIX.

You need to find out. It is going to change the advice you get.
Boot probably needs to be in the first 1024 cyls. That is the normal reason.
You might also want to post on the UNIX or SCO forum. You'll find more Unix knowledge there.

I have now solved this issue. Thanks to the use of Partition Magic I didn't need to wipe off Win 2000. By shifting the large (Primary) partition up, and creating a Linux partition (within 1024 Cylnders, boot sector) this solved the problem and I must add PM is a very good program and very user friendly!

Cheers for your advice as well Ed.
