why would connecting a 12" LCD to a Dell 7500 laptop show slow performance when playing DVDs? The laptops 15" screen plays DVDs GREAT, I close the laptop and connect a 12" LCD and its choppy...any ideas?

Thanks

Don't know what OS you are using, but try this.

In the video options, go to the tab that allows you to select your video output devices (VGA/LCD/External/RCA)

Make the VGA out (External monitor) the PRIMARY device.

See if that helps.
