Hi,
I am working on a laptop made by Chembook. It has a Celeron 366 with 64 mb of ram. The customer said he was getting an error message of Wait HDD. I did see the same message while I was working on it. The HDD seems to freeze periodically and the message Wait HDD in a small blue rectangular box appears. The customer leaves the laptop on most of the time. I am not familiar with laptops but did notice the fan on the bottom is not spinning at all. Is this message an indidcation that the system is overheating. I turned the system on ten minutes ago and got the message again.
Any help and direction on where I can find a good resource to show me how to repair and work on laptops would be appreciated.
Thank You
And Have A Safe Day!!

I would not think it was an overheating issue if it occurs within 10 minutes of power up. The fact that the fan is not on is really not conclusive. Laptops, due to a need for power management typically only turn on the fan when a certain temperature is reached....unlike a desktop which runs all the time.

I would think just by the syntax of the message box that it was a hard drive related issue. Did you check the vendors website for any detail on this message? This would be a good place to start or at least contact their technical support.
