Hope someone can provide me with some direction...

We have a small number of users with laptops. Previously, they had been left to backup their own data. Well, the inevitable happened, one crashed, and the user hadn't been doing her backups. Now, it's up to me to devise a procedure to ensure that all of the laptops are backed up automatically, same as the desktops. Problem is, the backups are done overnight, and all the laptops are gone home!

I've tried looking for a script that would start the backup process at login, but have been stymied.

Any ideas?

why not make the users save their data to one of your servers using Folder Redirection? Then, if they want to use the laptops at home, you can set the folders for offline user...

Sometimes the answer is right there in front of you, isn't it?

Much respect, brontosaurus!

Another way would be to put something like "xcopy c:\username\*.* z:\username\*.* /M /Y" into the login script. This way the user's files are archived each time they log on. (And no questions from offline folders about "You have an offline file that has been deleted from the server, do you want to A) Put your file onto the server B) Delete your file C) Do nothing and let Windows ask you again each time?"
