I would go to the Source (Adobe Knowledge Base):

Search for [minimum requirements] and choose a product [Photoshop] etc.

you will be supplied with:

Code:
Photoshop CS (purchased as a component of Adobe Creative Suite)

-- Intel Pentium III or 4 processor

-- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or Windows XP

-- 192 MB of RAM to run any one component (256 MB recommended)

-- Additional RAM required to run multiple components simultaneously

-- Additional 128 MB of RAM required to run Version Cue desktop server

-- 1.975 GB of available hard-disk space to install the entire suite*

-- 1024 x 768 monitor resolution with 16-bit or greater video card (24-bit screen display recommended)

-- CD-ROM drive

For your Laptop Brand it's your personal choice.

I would go with a recognized brand that has what you need for the best price.

Try places like: to search for deals/specials.

thanks! Coulda got the specs myself, but thanks for copy/pasting 'em. Am also looking for personal recommendations & especially "...look for/avoid laptops that are/have/don't have _____."
& I already know to avoid vista

Hmmm....still not an easy answer, and I work for a computer manufacturer (one of the biggest).

On the PShop and other Adobe products forum it seems like many users swear by MAC's while the other half swear by PC's and still I guess it personal preferrence.

An un-bias and researched opinion with results can be found at:
and other sites like this (Google Search).

As with all graphic intensive software you need to pay attention to the Graphics Capabilities of the product you choose.

I wish I could be more specific and offer a "product" answer but you'll just get a completely different answer from the next post and so on ad infinitum.

I should have added that you may want to look for a laptop that supports a CRT or LCD for large screen work.

Thanks again to all. And I didn't notice I was almost opening the 'Mac vs. PC' can o' worms!

...fight, fight, fight!!...
