LAPI used to work fine until the server i used changed from windows 2000 sp3 -> sp4

now i cant seem to connect using LAPI
how do i get server name info?
if it requires opentext.ini, where do i find this file?
thx

i did it both in java, and VB.
in VB, it used to work.
Now i get this error:

"LL_SessionAlloc:
A required privellege is not held by the client.

Error -2147482645"

Check this on windows box that is running your livelink server not the client LAPI from where you issue the call .Assume the livelink services are running under a domain account say \<yourdomain name>\jerrie85.This account needs to be part of 'Administrators' and on the Local Security Policies this needs a right called'Act as Operation system.
From Administrative Tools->Local Security Policy->
->Local Policies->User Rights Assignments
Add the user running livelink to "Act as a part of the operating system'

Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more.

so i dont make this change on my client computer? i'm trying to logon into livelink using a dummy account i created a while back for a specific project.

actually its all fixed; apparently, the LL Admin had resetted the pass for the dummy account; thankx!
