I set up a Lantronix UDS10 using the kind advice on this forum. However, I am unable to get it working on my Octel 200. The Octel seems to see it, but all I get when trying to login through DSA is a blue screen and blinking cursor. I'm thinking there must be some way of configuring the serial port on the Octel, but have yet to figure out how. I am able to ping the Lantronix on the network, and it was a breeze to set up and configure. I was also able to get a Lantronix working with my Definity G3i thanks to the kind advice of another Tek-Tips poster. I'd love to get a Lantronix device working on the Octel as well. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Normally the serial setting for an OCTEL 200/300 is 9600 baud, 7 bit, even parity and 1 stopbit.
We have sold a few Lantronix UDS10 to our customers and in most cases it has been working as it should.
I think we had some problems with the DTR of the serial interface, so we could not dial in from the PSTN.
I do not think you can change the serial interface setting on the OCTEL, you must set the serial data correct in the external device.

You can't configure the serial port for the admin terminal on the Octel 200. You also can't just use pins 2 and 3 on the RS232 connector from the Octel 200. You must make sure that you are using the CTS RTS DSR DTR pins as well and make sure that UDS10 is using the hardware flow control. You might also try connecting a break out box in between the Octel 200 and the UDS10 to see if that will give you any clues as to why they might not be communicating.

Oh, I was also going to add that you can use a LAN card in the Octel 200 to Telnet into the system assuming you have one in the system and that it is Release S.4.X
