Can anyone help me with my language artwork problem! We use a third party application which automates the production of multi-language Quark documents, single or multi-page, such as catalogues or brochures. Then using our Quark English Master original, it records all the document’s layout and styling details and creates a Word file, in Rich Text Format (RTF) for us to send for translation. When we receive the translation back, it then uses this to build a new Quark document using the translation text and applying all the layout and styling of our original English document.

Sounds easy right.. Well it worked with Quark, but we've since moved over to InDesign and due to it's complexity it doesn't working! Now I understand there may be another way of doing this in InDesign using an XML databases? Has anyone any experience of this, or any further information/ suggestions on this subject that they could pass onto me.

I would be VERY grateful for any help!

Best Regards, and thank you.

What was your third party application for Quark? Was it Autopage?

You can save out, once you have layed-out the job with your style etc, to
"Adobe InDesign Tagged Text".

So when they translate the text file all they have to do is keep the taggs in place so when you bring the file back in, it should, in theory, be the same but in a different language.
