lan static routing in inetcfg protocol- active vs. passive.

Can anyone explain what would be a better choice in the inetcfg protocol setting for lan static.

The question is would active be better then passive for this setting.
 
If you set a route to active, it will shut the route down if the router doesn't constantly maintain communication.

So you'd be better off using Passive because it assumes the route is always valid.
