LAN Have network Access but not Net

I have just added a machine to our network, like I have done in the past. the machine seemed to flawlessly add to the domain. I mapped a network drive and have access to my server. I can ping all the hardware devices in my domain but can not ping a DNS server, can not ping any outside sites and can not complete a tracert. The addresses are assigned statically and the results of ipconfig /all match every other machine identically. What would cause a Win2000 Pro setup to have network connections but not find the internet?
