I have currently just had a BCM50e installed and I am having a problem getting the LAN CTE functionality to work correctly. I am running a small network with 5x desktop pcs (Win XP sp2), 1x wireless toshiba laptop (Win Xp Sp2) all connected to a Small Business Server.

Are main aim is get a third party application (Dillistone Systems - Filefinder) to dial out via our phones.

The application uses the standard windows Dialer.exe

The problem I'm having is the dialer is refusing to dial, it comes up a message saying it cannot make call. I have set it up correctly in the phone dialer options.

On all the desktop PC's the settings in Phone Dialer ask me to select a Line used for Phone Calls. In this I have the following options (Note, the name will be different per PC, in this example the use is James):

485 - James - Address 0
485 - James - Address 1
485 - James - Address 2

Now heres the twist! I have Nortel Personal Call Manager installed on all the computers and it works fine, however it doesn't work with dialer.exe. However I have managed to get the LAN CTE to work on a laptop, but in the options within Dialer.exe, I have the following options, when it asks for a line:

485 - Hugh - Address 0
485 - Hugh - Address 1
485 - Hugh - Address 2
485 - Hugh - Address 3

In this case it ony works with Address 0. However I am more concerened that there is 4 address lines on rather 3 as shown on all the other computers. And also on the laptop, Personal Call Manager does not work.

Can anyone help.

Did you set up your dialing properties to dial a 9 first?
Dialing options
dialing properties
home location # xxx
local # 9
long Distance # 9

Yes, I have all these settings correctly checked

Try making a call out of microsoft outlook from your contact list to verify it works without 3rd party software first.

No it does not work. I think it is a problem with Dialer.exe

I would check you settings again,
Outlook,contacts,call contact
dial using, extXXXX should be in pull down as opion (if not reinstal lan cte)
dialing properties,local code 9, Long Code 9
