aix/perts,

i got this "old" rs6k with an adapter "ent0 (Ethernet High-Performance LAN Adapter - 8ef5).

lsdev -Cc adapter | grep ent0 shows;

ent0 Available 00-02 Ethernet high-Performance LAN Adapter

netstat -i shows i got 2 network interfaces;

en0
et0

network interface "en0"- i asigned an IP: 192.168.0.1 and mask 255.255.255.0. i hooked it up to a hub (8 RJ45 + 1 BNC).

after i've done series of connection testing - it seems to me it's not communicating/working with the rest of computer within LAN. i used "ping" to check connectivity to the other PCs = failed. i "ping" itself = OK. is it defective or i just miss a thing?

i tried the BNC coax cable terminating both one-end of the "T" connector and an adaptor to convert BNC to RJ45 but to no avail. i can't still connect to LAN.

any idea or a clue from anybody? thanks

8ef5 is an 10Mbps MCA card. Is your hub set at 10Mbps?

Does the little light on the card light up when you connect the cable?
What does 'entstat -d ent0' show?

Could it just be a routing problem? What does 'netstat -r' show?

I can't remember if you had to set the cable type when defining the interface on this card but if all else fails you could try smitty mktcpip and define the cable type.
