Hi Guys,
Cusomter has BCM 400 v 4.0 with patches 32 through to 45 loaded.
BCM Lan 1 - 10.11.34.20 - DHCP disabled.
BCM Lan 2 - 10.10.11.1
RCC server - 10.11.34.21 (static address)
The customer has no access to the BCM at all to do changes.
Had a call from the customer saying the reports were blank.
I went to site and checked the RCC server and noticed it wasn't 'talking' to the BCM. Tried pinging the BCM but the pings failed.
I then unplugged Lan 1 of the BCM off the customers network and gave my laptop address 10.11.34.21 (same as RCC server). Plugged laptop into Lan 1 using a crossover cable. Still couldn't ping the BCM.
Plugged BCM back into customers network and set the RCC server to DHCP. Got a new IP address from the customers server and could now ping the BCM and connect using Element Manager
Plugged laptop into customers network and recieved an IP address from customers server and could ping the BCM and connect using Element Manager.
I then set the RCC server to 10.11.34.22 and could connect to the BCM and Element Manager and the RCC reporting worked.
Set the RCC server back to the original address of 10.11.34.21 and couldn't connect.
My questions are: Can the BCM block the one IP address 10.11.34.21? If so why would it do this? How can I stop this happening again?
The only way of clearing the fault is by rebooting the BCM.
Your thoughts and comments would be much appreciated.
