Hi all.

I have dropped my external usb Lacie drive.

When I turn it on it makes an alert tone but the computer won't recognise it when its plugged in.

Here is the tone:
Anyone know what I can do with it?

Thanks.

If you can open up the enclosure, try pulling the hard drive out and slaving it in your computer or buy another external enclosure and throw it in there. This way you narrow down whether the actual disks were damaged or if it was just the enclosure that was damaged.

The current enclosure doesnt have any screws of obvious ways of opening it.

I am not sure the best method of attack.

Look for a seam. There has to be a seam somewhere. It may be a snap-fit so try to GENTLY pry it up with a knife blade or small screwriver. Also look for labels that can hide screws. It sure looks like a seam around that back plate, maybe lifting those little dents a bit might work.
