Using a 7600 with Sonnet G3 card. Bought a LaCie 60Gb drive for backUp with Retrospect. Within a few days or a week the drive which only had about 2.5 Gb on it, says it has only 400Mb free. Retrospect then won't back up at night - "not enough room."

LaCie reformatted the drive for me twice and then replaced the mechanism twice - same problem comes back - the last time after I 'rebuilt the desktop.'

Could it be my PowerPC 7600/Sonnet G3 card combo???
Am using Retrospect 4.3 (that version can do 'file' backups to a HD) and I made sure I had the latest version of Sonnet driver.

Help!. . .getting scary with minimal backups.

You are using HFS+ right? A drive that large in just HFS would lose a lot to large disk allocation units.

Other than that, I have no answers, sorry

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Yes - I forgot to mention I'm using HFS+ on all drives (LaCie Silverlining Pro v. 6.4.4)
Also, I have 11Mb internal drive (SCSI) and a 4.4 Mb LaCie external drive (SCSI) as well as the aforementioned LaCie 60 Gb. The 2 SCSI drives are fine.

But to have 54GB unaccounted for is definitely frustrating.

Did I mention that it was FireWire (OrangeMicro PCI FireWire Card - yes, I've made sure I have the latest drivers)

Have you looked at the drive with something that can see invisible files? Something like filebuddy. There could be some large invisible file causing the problem.
