Lacie 5big Network Internal backup... does it do compression

I called Lacie tech support and the tech was not very helpful. I need to find out if the internal backup software that allows me to backup Shares/Folders to another Share does compression.

I plan on plugging in a 1TB external drive to the Lacie 5big via the eSATA port and backup the data to the external drive, but I would like to know if it does any sort of compression or if its a 1 to 1 copy....

compression all depends on the file types you put onto it. So make sure you use highly compressable files to see the real difference (dont go using pdf's or jpeg's as they are already super compressed).
