Labels Won't Sort

Hi,
I created labels using a sorted query (assending [Last Name]).
Labels property:
Order By: [Last Name]
Order By On: Yes

The query results are sorted properly.
The document associated with the labels uses the same query as the labels. It is sorted correctly.
The labels are not.
Any ideas?

If you right click over the the little box in the right had corner in design view you'll see the sorting and grouping option. Try setting it there that usually does it for me.

Also, are you sure you're reading the labels in the correct direction? Access can go left to right, or up and down when printing columns/labels. I believe default is left to right so if you're expecting up and down the sort would appear "wrong".
