Hi all,

I have a label that can eiter print one line or two lines depending on the lenght of the data. Since I am printing on avery labels, I need the detail size not to grow or shrink (which I have selected). Yet, whenever the label is 4 lines long instead of 3, he next row starts down one lines and by the end of the page, it is not good anymore. Anyway to fix this problem?

Thanks

Did you prepare the label using the label wizard?

Is it the case that the height of each line is too big, so that whenever 4 lines occur it makes it so that there is no bottom margin on the label when 4 lines of printing occur?

Tom,

Thanks for replying. Yes I used the label wizzard, and no, when 4 lines of text occur, it doesn't make it too big at all. That's why I don't undesrtand it.

Thanks

Can you open the label in Design View and post what the 3 lines are?

From your post, I gather that you have 3 fields to pull, and one of those fields can be either 1 or 2 lines depending upon the amount of data...correct? So you get a label with either 3 lines or 4 of print.

Also, take a look in the Page Setup and see if everything looks alright in the Column setup.

How about using trim(). This may help.
Also check the cngrow/shrink properties of the label not just the detail of the form.

Tom,

Thank you for your reply. Was away for a week. You have it excactly right, it is the first line that can grow into two. I will post later tonight when I have it in front of me. I did use trim, but I will check the grow srink for the label as well. Thank you both for the info.

another thought - I've notice that if you use the wizard and the field is a combo box, it will not grow even if you set it to. I always have make add a new, unbound control, set it's datasource as the desired field, and then set it to grow. Then it works just fine. Don't know if this applies to you or not, but it might help someone.
