I want to make clicking the left and right buttons of my mouse simultaneously in X be interpreted as a new button so that I could then assign a command to it with something like imwheel. Would I have to just make something homebrew or is there already an app for this? Thanks

You should be able to set up your X server to use left+right click to emulate the third mouse button, if your mouse does not have one. Then you can configure the third button to do what you require.

If you're still stuck please give us some more information about the operating system you are using, the version of X, type of mouse, etc. etc.

Thanks Annihilannic. I'm aware of the 3rd button emulation support. I tried to use this for what I wanted to do but it won't work (as far as I could tell). I have a wheel mouse, and I'd like to retain all the functions of the wheel but add L+R click as a 4th button with my own assignable function. Any ideas?

I repeat... If you're still stuck please give us some more information about the operating system you are using, the version of X, type of mouse, etc. etc. :)
