I have a customer with a KX-TVS120 VMS where 1 phone has been reoccupied by a new person, who doesn't know the password so they can reset their greeting, get messages and so forth.

Normally the System Manager mailbox I guess would be used for this, but it too has an unknown password, as well as the System Administration password. When I connect to the system with a hyper-terminal session, I get 15 tries to "guess" the password. They guy who set it up says he used 4321, or 4444, neither of which work. If I restart the VMS, I get another 15 tries. Right now, if it's a 4-digit sequence, I have another 9985 tries to go.....

Is there a better way than defaulting the system and starting all over? I've done many Avaya VMS, but the is not something I am an expert on. I can see how to reset the Sys Mgr password once in as Sys Admin. Does someone know how to do this?

Any help would be great.
Thanks.

if you cant get on to the systems because of passwords you would have to default the system using the switches

check the manaul, there are a few switch settings that will default the system without fully erasing everything.

if you are using the system as VM only, it would not take long using quick setup to get it setup if it was defaulted, everyone would just have to record ogm and passwords

If using AA it would take a bit more, depends on how complex it was

Naturally, it's hooked up to a Panasonic System, and is using an Automated attendant.

Thanks for the reply anyway, I was trying find a way to avoid a defaulting.

If don't have the password only way default system or call Panasonic Tech Support they can back door the system sooner or later you will need get into the system reconfig. menu or add new mailboxes.

Panasonic Tech Support may or may not do for you also you setup an moden to the TVS 120.
