I recently had to go set up a new phone system in a restaurant with a kx-ta824 panel, several kx-t7731 pt phones and one kx-td7896 wireless pt phone. There are two co lines connected to the panel and all the 7731 phones work as expected. The programming on the panel is set to factory default.

The only problem is the wireless which isn't connecting through one of the co lines. I would press the talk button, then 9 and it will connect to co line 3 which there is no outside line connected to co 3 on the panel. I would press the talk button, then 8 and 1 and I would get co line 1. I would press 8 and 2 and I would get co line 2, and so forth.

There is a dial tone on both co line 1 and 2 but the only line I was able to dial out and connected successfully is on co line 2. Every call attempted on co line 1 is greeted with a "your call cannot be completed as dialed...". This problem exists before and after I programmed the PT port assignment on that extension.

Unfortunately, the restaurant was closing and they kicked me out. I'd appreciate anyone who can help me with this problem before my next attempt to fix it. Thanks.

hi the reason you have to dial 81 or 82 is you havnot removed line 3 from available line options

into programing
dial 400
Display says (co connection)
press sp phone
Display says (co1 connect)
press sp phone
Display says (co2 connect)
press sp phone
Display says (co3 connect)
press auto answer/ mute
Display says (co3 not connect)
press autodial store
now when a user dials 9 they get an outside line 1 or 2 only

the message you hear "your call cannot be completed as dialed"
implies you have dialed a wrong number however could alsso be a restriction on the phone line ... to test remove line 1 from the phone system and connect directly to the portable handset ,,,press the talk button and dial a number if it works reconnect to the system and try again if not it is a service provider restriction on that line
