kx td308 communication problem.

I was trying to connect to a kx Td308 today and make some changes. I had connected to this system about 8 years ago when I originally installed it with a different computer. I have the null modem cable and can connect to the unit but when I try to pull any parameters from it the communications start and then the serial port stops communicating and I get and error from the ppd1232 saying communication error and inside the box it says parameter error. When I tried connecting to the unit I had to change the parity to none to get it to connect. I am not sure where to go next. it doesn't matter which parameter I try to read the unit acts the same. I would have thought that if I was online with the unit I should be good. I have attached a link to a screen shot of the error.

There was one other test I performed that worked. I used hyper terminal and was receiving data from the phone system. it appeared that it was sending me a call log. I have read other places that if hyper terminal worked then the hardware is good.

It could be the software version is different
You will get that if using the tool on a older vesion system

Is that the uk tool you have not sure it supported the 308

I'm not sure what version this is but I think it was the one I loaded on my computer at the Panasonic school. How could I check compatibility and or get a version that will work.

are you using the 308 dos software you cant use the 816/1232

The software is a Windows based software not Dos based. I ended up using the programmator software and it worked great. I am guessing a it was an issue with the version of ppd 1232 software.

There is no windows maint console in usa for td only dos . ppd 1232 is not for 308 TD be very careful I have used programator in the past and you can royally pooch a data base with it if you are not careful...

When I installed the system originally I programmed it with the PPD1232. This was around 2006 sometime.

So the PPD 1232 is not a windows based program. When I installed the program on my computer I was at panasonic in chicago and they said that the software was good for td1232, td816 and td308.

ppd1232 is windows based no its only for KX-TD 1232/816 Only !! Only Factory In USA software for KX-TD 308 is and was DOS BASED!!!!!!

I am wondering how I was able to program it the first time. I havent ever used the DOS based program before. Is it very difficult to use and is it available.

its available and not difficult to certified dealers you most likely used the crummy programator windows program i never used the software om something that small i'dd bang out the programming thru the keypad faster than you can type....when i did my first td308 the paper manual had not been printed

I know for a fact that I didn't use the programmator program until this year. When I programmed it first I used the ppd1232. That was the only programming software our company had at that time. I even remember when in went to school they told us we could program all three models 1232,816 and 308.

are you in the states ?If yes you look at psna portal PPD1232 Is for 1232/816 only .
