Hello everyone,

I just have a couple of questions, I’m hoping someone might know, regarding a
KX-T7234c phone. Recently, a disgruntled receptionist asked if it where possible to display the callers’ number and information on the screen. We have caller ID; however, she requested that the number and information regarding the caller be listed and ‘stay’ on the screen even after she lifts the receiver. As of now, if we receive a call, the number and information is displayed and than vanishes when the receiver is lifted from the cradle. I searched the manuals looking for a solution for what appeared to be simple problem, either I missed something or this can’t be done.

Phone model: KX-T7235c
Current system: KX-TD1232
VPS: TVS100

My question is, can this be done? And if so, how?

*Side Note: previous phone system was able to display a name, as well as a number, on the screen from our regular callers. With our ‘new’ system, depending on the location of the caller it seems it displays the number but the name-ID associated with it instead it shows “Out of Area”

Thanks!

to see the name of an I/C all you have to enter it into the Speed dial list.
not sure of your other problem but I will have a look at some systems and get back to you.

So to get the name displayed that goes with the number I have to manually enter it? Doesent seem right to me for some reason, shouldent caller ID already do that?

What information is displayed is based on the information that you local carrier has access to. Your carrie has a database of numbers that it can assiciate names with. Some telco companies do not share all of this information with others. If your provider does not have an agreement worked out with the carrier where the call is originating to exchange name information, then no name will be displayed.

also
infrormation is only displayed if a ( - ) is input after the line access no: and before the main no:

ie using speeddial no:000
1.programing
2.speeddial ooo
3. input ..0.. or.. 9..-.. then no:
4.exit
5 speed name table
6 speed name 000
7 enter name
store
atleast thats how we do in ireland

you could get the reception to press the * button when she gets calls saying out of area the display will change each time she presses it giving different info on the call

you can change if the no: is displayed after you go off hook but only works before or after off hook not both
its somewhere in 990 prog i will have to chk... & post later

Scary receptionist asked again today where her caller ID was!

The strange thing with the caller ID is that the last phone system (a very basic one) was able to display the name and number of one of our regular callers. Now with this new system only the number, even from this same caller, is displayed and the name says Out of Area. If the name was able to be displayed with the older less so-fist-o-ma-kate-ed phone system why cant the new one do the same? I understand that the information is supplied by the carrier, even if the name was changed to private by the carrier it wouldn’t explain the same occurrence happening to our other clients when they call.

Another question regarding the same topic: Can the name and number be displayed on the screen after the call has been answered? (see reenactment below)

Reenactment:
*** ring ring ***
see the caller ID on screen…
monster receptionist: grumble, grumble “Hello!?”
caller ID information vanishes from screen!

Rivet I’m going to check the manual for programs in the 990’s section, maybe I’ll come across something in there that might help.

I appreciate all your replies and comments.

the panasonic sys will only display names that are stored in the sys mem ....
your cus.. will have to input them if she wants them you can have up to 500 names & numbers installed.if your customer is getting caller id in bound you should have no prob getting the name to display just as long as the cid inbound is the same as the no:stored in the sys

ihave never seen Out of Area displayed so i cant explain
hopefully cwc3 will log in tonight
he knows all ....

Reenactment:

try pressing the * button while talking to a customer once you have entered them into the speed table on the large display phones this is done by the shift button
but you cant have it done automaticaly.....

Panasonic will only display names assoc with a number if you enter it in the speed dial list and yes you can toggle the screen display by pressing the * key

If you subscribe to name and number caller id all will
be shown on the second ring if you have number only
caller Id you must enter name associated with that number in the caller id table. if you get a call that shows out of area then the caller id info is not available and is most likely a telemarketer.Hey nice tip if the attendant
is a real ball buster and wants popups see you can
scare up a kx-td 171 card and load talking caller id
onto here computer the 171 will pass all callerid info
to a rochell caller id plug and every time a call comes
in you will get a screen pop on you computer with caller
id info hey have a great weekend!!

also if your modem is caller id capable
I have also used what I metioned above with
act and got the screen pops to work with multi lines!!
