KRS Thinks BCM Is 3.7 But It Is A 4.0?

Has anyone run into this before:

I believe KRS thinks a BCM 400 I have is a 3.7, but it is in fact a 4.0 so I am having trouble loading the keycode file. It is coming across with the format that the 3.7s used to, and doesn't provide a .lic file.

If this is the case, is there a way to tell KRS that the unit is a 4.0, or would I have to load a 3.7 to 4.0 upgrade license so it could then in turn give me a .lic file?

The SYS ID is E220A40B0000 if anyone wants to take a look / assist.

Thank you

I've been on the KRS site and it does show as being an old BCM Windows NT system such as a 2.x or 3.x etc.

There was never an upgrade to 4.0 issued. I can view 4 keycodes that were generated. I won't print them off here but can supply them via my contact details below.

You will need to purchase a keycode upgrade, but I don't know if there are any distributers who are still selling them. Please contact me if you are still stuck.

Yes it looks like whoever upgraded it did it with a bogus code. So like firebird said you'll have to purchase an upgrade code and run it through the KRS.

So does it by chance say exactly what my version is in the KRS?

Part # NT7B10AADH .. Just a quick google search seems like it may be a 3.0 originally?

I haven't done an upgrade from 3.0 ever. Used to just slap a 3.7 drive in them. Would I need to go 3.0 to 3.6 or 3.7 then up to 4.0 via licenses?

From what I recall, versions 3.0 and 3.5 needed to upgrade to version 3.6 or 3.7 before you could go to 4.0 which was the Linux version.

Was your system actually working at release 4.0?. Was you accessing it via element manager?

Yes I have it up and running and accessing it via element manager here on my test bench.

I'm still confused!. Was your system working with a correct keycode issued for 4.0 as a *.lic file or did you just swap out the old 3.x hard disk and replace it with a Linux 4.0 one?.

Without a proper lic file, you can't even activate the BCM 400 system. Perhaps you might have had an old try n buy keycode for it.

Have you also changed out the MSC card as this contains the site ID underneath the card. It could be that a different MSC card was used in the past that had 4.0 keycodes issued for it.

It's best to contact me off line if you want any more assistance on this, but I've now finished for the day.

Best of luck!.

I believe this unit came from a guy who used to work at Nortel so they activated their keycodes differently and offline / not with the typical KRS.

This unit actually had tons and tons of licenses on it but still the old 20gb hard drive so I put in a new drive and was getting the codes back via KRS and it is coming up with the above issue.

I actually tried manually entering the old license info via the web & telset but get invalid still. I thought about maybe trying to do a back-up on the old drive and loading it onto the new drive, but even if I do, the unit is only so good if all those codes aren't registered with the KRS. So I am, trying to get it properly registered as a 4.0 and use the codes that are actually registered with the KRS.

Funky. I know.
