I'm just getting started with AIX and UNIX in general. What is the best scripting book out there?

Thanks - Brad

In my opinion, 'Unix Shell Programming' by Kochan & Wood is one of the best intros for learning ksh (get the 3rd edition):

My second choice is Rosenblatt & Robbins' 'Learning the Korn Shell':

With a little experience, you need 'The New Korn Shell'by Morris Bolsky & David Korn:

Hi

If you've not got the background in Unix/AIX/KSH, then my suggestion to you is to skip KSH altogether, and pick up the excellent O'Reilly "Perl" books.

Perl is easier to learn than KSH, IMHO, and will give you much more pleasure than KSH. And, if you're not having fun - you're in the wrong job :)

Kind Regards,
Matthew Bourne
