As a follow up to http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1698684 where it seemed there was an issue with a Konftel 300W being able to operate with Avaya DECT R4, I believe that this issue is related to USA (DECT 6.0) vs Eurpoe (DECT w/GAP). It is my understanding from having sponen with Konftel and Avaya that this is due to the two different DECT standards.

Avaya's own documentation makes no reference to this (http://www.konftel.com/Global/PDF/Interoperability_Test/Avaya_Konftel_300W_CM.pdf) which does add to teh confusion on this subject.

If there experiences that differ to this, I would welcome the comments and feedback.

Avaya should know the answer either way, they own/are Konftel :)

"No problem monkey socks

The interop list on the Konftel website says EU only for IPO. Does anyone know any workarounds, or any other DECT conference phones that might work with the Avaya DECT r4 in US?

On the Konftel website in Swedish, it says GAP compatible, switch to English and it will tell you that it's DECT 6.0 compatible.

Product number for a US Version including DECT base station: 840101067
Tech spec:
Config (EU):

DECT R6.0 is a adaption of the EU DECT but it uses a different frequency band and it is not GAP compatible which means that devices of other brands most likely will not work on a particular system. Appearantly this excludes the Conftel DECT conference phone on a Avaya IP DECT R4 or the US.
You can operate a DECT R4 in the US with the EU standard by adding a string in the sourcenumberlist of the NoUser in IP Office but if you do you are breaking the law.
I will not publish the string, if you want it contact Avaya.

No need to break the law, just buy the US model with the approved base station:)

Kind regards

Just trying to get away from analog ports and use IP, but this looks like the only way

Yeah, for now that seems to be the only way to go.
Polycom are the same, need an analogue port for them too.

Kind regards

It's not the only way unless having it wireless is crucial, patching isn't that bad :)

carp, have to watch my statements:)
(I do prefer a wired solution)

Kind regards

Gunnar
