I'm considering going there to do the MCSE 2003 later on this year & was wondering if there are anyone here who has had any experience of them.

I've read many good reports regarding Koenig, however, they are all quite old & information i'm reading is started suggest that their operations have declined in quality somewhat...?

I've also read some old threads on this form from people who have been there, including someone who had a bad experience with but didnt elaboarate..??? I'd be very interested to hear of any experiences any of you have had...

regards

I am planning to go too. I also looking for current information about the trainings

I'm off to Koenig, Goa - October this year to do an MCSE 2003

I spent a lot of time late the year before last and early last year investigating Koenig as well as other possible solutions for training in India.

With regards to Koenig I would say stay well clear, I spoke in detail with the guy who had issues with Koenig and realised that it just wasn't worth my time and money going with them.

In the end I went with Gates Training in Mumbai, I spent just about 2 months with them, I had planned on doing my CCNP as well as my MCSE over there but in all honesty felt that it would have been too much. In the end I came away from them with my MCSE2003 and MCSE2003:Security as well as my Comptia Sec+.
I would strongly advise against doing any more training then that in that kind of time period and I would also strongly advise against doing the Bootcamps that they do as I feel it would simply be too much knowledge to take in in such a short period of time.

One thing you have to realise with doing this training is that it's all well and good being trained but you have to remember the information that you were taught beyond the exams.

I have no qualms about having gone to India for my training but in hindsight I now realise that I had bitten off more than I could chew.

One thing I would also really REALLY suggest you go for is 1-1 tuition, it may sound silly but the worst thing you can do is be in a classroom doing something that you already know, it happened to me a couple of times and I got bored, far better to do 1-1, the instructor to test your knowledge and spend more time on the areas you are weak on rather than rehashing areas you already know.

I would also recommend that you look closely at the accommodation you would be staying in, whilst in Mumbai I stayed in a hotel that by the end of the time there I couldn't wait to get away from (in fact I actually left there early and paid for another flight home rather than stay in that hotel for longer, long story short is that I was taken for a ride and didn't like it).

My last bit of advice is simply this, if its your money ask a lot of questions, I did of both Gates and Koenig and tbh I was more pleased (felt happier) with the replies from Gates than I did with Koenig.

SimonD.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

Thanks for your reply Simon.

i've had masses of communication with Koenig (Sandeep) & i've found him to have been really helpful. I've asked him a ton of questions to which i've had satisfactory responses within 24hrs. Why exactly do you suggest that I should stay well clear? (I haven't booked with Koenig yet, - my company has just agreed to pay).

I've spoken to another guy who works near to me who went to Koenig to do an MCSD, who strongly recommends them. He did say that they're a little rough around the edges & you have to make sure you don't take any sh1t, but on the whole the pros outweigh the cons & he would recommend them.

I see from a quick look at their website that their MCSE2003 is a 25 day course, whereas Koenig's is 50 days.

What was it you didnt like about the hotel in the end?

I have considered the 1-1 tuition, but I believe that with Koenig the maximum size of a class is four people. I concluded that having a few other class-mates to bounce ideas off etc would be a good thing.

Cheers

Hi everybody!

I made my MCSE 2003 + Security + Messaging in Shimla at Koenig. I had a One-On-One Training and passed all the exams is the first go. Although I'm German and not a native english speaker I was very fast used to the "Indian" English ;-)
I met a lot of other students there doing Regular Tracks and I guess for most of them it was a success doing the Training at Koening.
If you like mountains Shimla is a very nice place. For those who like the sea: go to Goa ;-) I stayed two nights in Dehli on my trip to Shimla and back and I won't do a training there ;-)

Cheers

Chris

i was at koenig, goa, for just over one month (may 2006) doing the mcse 2003 security and mcdba, fast track. my experience was very good. everything they say on their site was as it is. a friend of mine had been there a month before me and highly recommended it to me, so on the strengh of this, and other research i decided on koenig. i looked at other camps, but they were in the philippines, which seemed too far for this trip!

for me, the main thing was getting my courses. in this, i cant fault them. the staff, hotels (the medium 3 or 4 star are best), tutors, training centres were all good. the thing to remember before you go is to not expect the offices to look like a european training centre found in an industrial park! of course, one of the main questions is getting through the exams, and not spending a fortune doing it? this is why koenig made sense. they are a good price, partly because they dont have really expensive offices! the point is to get the exams and then go off to a 5 star hotel afterwards to relax :)

i can honestly say, that of everyone i met there, no one had a complaint! and as far as i could see most people got the exams they wanted :)

whatever you decide, good luck :)

* forgot to mention: the one on one can be good but if you get a small group who are at the same standard then the group is better coz you pick up things from the other students! however, if the group is of a different standard then the one to one is better! it is not much more money. a personal preference i guess?

* dont take on too much. aim to do less than you think you can do. i know this might sound crazy, but you will get tired studying for over a month! you can always ask to join other courses when you are there

* arrange some extra days in case you fail any exams and so you can relax at the end! :)

* also, my earlier description made the offices not sound very nice! i should have said they were fine. dont worry, there were plenty of pc's in air con rooms etc. everything you need!
