Hi all

Does anyone know the whereabouts of a version of Kodak Imaging for Windows that would install and run under Windows XP?

Kodak themselves advise that they do not know of one.

VFP applications dependant on Imaging are going to need workrounds unless such a version can be located.

The only other way might be to have a 'clean' installation of Windows 2000 Pro, (similar kernel), and check files and registry entries before and after installing Imaging, and then do a manual install.

Anyone have any better ideas?

Is that the one being used in the FAQ184-2394?
Wasn't that the one that came with win95?

Yes

Kodak Imaging for Windows, originally Wang, has been bundled with every version of Windows since Windows 95, including Windows NT.

Microsoft, in their wisdom, do not include it in Windows XP, so any VFP developer using the various ActiveX controls of the suite, (unless they are self supporting), will have to think again unless a version can be made available.

Chris,
It's my understanding that it wasn't MS that decided not to include it with XP, but rather Kodak - they'd be happy to sell you the control.

ChrisRChamberlain,

Kodak Imaging (Used to be Wang) is now "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" in Windows XP. It comes under Microsoft Office Tools alongwith Microsoft Photo Editor.

Peping,
Two things, since this is an MS product it doesn't work the same as the Kodak control (I believe what Chris is lamenting), and it does not come with XP, but rather with Office XP.

You may well be right, either way it leaves a void without any obvious workaround.

Thanks for the links - I am glad I am not alone in mourning its passing.
