ASCII is ASCII. If what you want to do is transfer from one to the other you would be better using doscp on the unix side, it puts the carriage returns/linefeeds so dos (windows) can use the data.

If you are using os5 or unixware mtools binaries are much better that the dos... binaries. They are available from the sco web site and are also included on the Skunkware disk now shipped with a new installation media set.
