I've got a Knoppix CD that I'd like to boot up on a PC without a bootable CD. It has a CD but the BIOS (Award BIOS 4.5) doesn't have an option to boot from CD: only A,C or C,A.

Any ideas how I can boot from CD?

a) Take a computer without hdd, put your hdd inside, install knoppix there, move the hdd back into your computer.

b) Install vm-ware, and run knoppix in a vm-client.

c) Perhaps you can create a boot-sector for a floppy-drive, and boot from floppy, which tells grub to boot from the cd.

d) I think I heard of a script to start or install from a running windows, but I'm not sure about that, and how to search for more details.

Do you have access to a computer that may boot from a CD?

If so you can boot up from the knoppix CD and create a boot disk by running the "mkbootfloppy" program.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll try creating a floppy that tells grub to boot from CD.
