Currently working in Indesign 2 on a 2 colour job - black & Pantone 485. I have typed text (postscript font) & filled it with black and added a 3 point white stroke. Their is a background behind the text that is solid 485. When separating the job, the black text will not knockout the 485 behind it - the 485 plate includes information inside the white stroked text!

The preferences are set to "Overprint black".

I have tried to "convert text to curves" although this alters the appearance of the text - almost like the stroke inverts on the text, making it much smaller.

I have changed the colour from black to yellow, which worked - for the moment - but is there something else I can try? Is knocking out behind black a known problem with Indesign?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a reason why you're not turning off the overprint black option?

You can also always clone the text in question and apply the color 'paper' to the cloned text that you've layered behind the black text...if you don't want to turn off the overprint black option.

You've also got control over individual strokes and fills and whether they overprint via the Attributes palette.
