I have a customer with a Hicom 150E Pro 2 cab system. They are reporting that when the receptionist transfers a call the repdial key lights and stays lit even when the person hangs up the phone. They unpluged the phone and the switchboard cleared and then started doing the same thing.

Any thoughts would be apprecated.

P.S. they are running 2.2 software.

I have had this happen MANY times in the past - in my case the #1 reason for this was the annoying users who decided to take it among themselves to upgrade themselves to a better phone. Once you unplug the phone that is assigned and plug in a different model phone to that port it reconfigures the button table to the default one for that type of phone.

My first suggestion in isolating this problem is to to into the key configuration screen for that phone and make sure the phone type that is assigned matches the actual phone type - and the keyboard definition is set up as you would expect.

I have had the users switch out phones to a higher model and then when they realize it's not going to work without my help - they switch back to their old phone and find out the keys don't work right anymore! So my first guess is that repdial key isn't a repdial key!

My second guess is that when you assign a repdial key in 2.2 is sometimes assumes the DSS function as well, and the light adjacent to the key will light up to indicate that person is on the phone. In your case, if you transferred a call to that extension it may be indicating that person is now on the floor.

This only happens on the recept phone, which is a adv+ with KLM's attached. The repdial lights on the KLM's stay lit after the receptionist transfers a call to the extension. Even after the person has hung up the call. All of the phones have stayed the same because there are no extra phones in the building. The KLM's will stay lit until the line cord is unpluged and then the problem starts all over. They stay lit so long that all of the KLM lights are lit. The only way to clear the lights is to unplug the linecord. But then the problem starts over.

Thank you for your help.

I know that on my 150 I occasionally have some wierd problems that won't go away and the tech's whimsical solution to the problem is that "every once in a while it just needs a good enema".

So wait till a period of low activity, pop off the cover, find the CBMOD card (main processor card with the PCMCIA cards in it) and just FLIP (notice I said FLIP) the reset switch and let the system reboot. DO NOT hold down the reset switch. Doing so will make your life suck - the system will lose all of its programming and revert back to German. If that happens hopefully you have a recent KDE backup on disk someplace - then you will have to enter a code sequence onto the phone hooked up to the first digital port of the system to reset it all back to english - and then use your laptop to re-upload all of the system programming. Not a fun task when you are under stress!

I would say on the average I have to reboot the system every couple months to make wierd things go away, but I have not had any issues since I upgraded the system software to release 3.0.
