I am currently running Aloha POS Table Manager 6.4.17

The system is setup to give 3% of all sales to the kitchen staff. It automatically does this on the server checkout. I want to change that number to 4% but can't seem to find where to do it.

Thanks,

Travis Schueller

I would suggest you check with a lawyer if it is legal. We've seen a number of lawsuits out there where restaurants force the servers to tip out to non tipped employees.
According to the Fair Labor and Standards Act, FLSA, it is not legal.

Tip Pool: The requirement that an employee must retain all tips does not preclude a valid tip pooling or sharing arrangement among employees who customarily and regularly receive tips, such as waiters, waitresses, bellhops, counter personnel (who serve customers), bussers, and service bartenders. A valid tip pool may not include employees who do not customarily and regularly received tips, such as dishwashers, cooks, chefs, and janitors.

There are a number of lawyers looking for people that break these laws. In some states, like MA, if you lose a lawsuit on wages you pay triple damages.

PosGuyUs, Many restaurants that have a sushi bar or cook at the table, would receive tips even though they might be considered non tipped staff. The checkout he is referring to is a piece of paper that tells the server what the tip should be.

Ross, he didn't mention that it was a Sushi bar. All I am saying is check with a lawyer. I should have put quotes around that Tip Pool section, that comes direct from the FLSA website. I've seen these lawsuits. One customer of mine was sued because they were having the servers tip out the hostesses. The hostesses were actually bussing tables which I thought they'd be fine in a suit but they decided it would be cheaper to settle.
