Documentation can be found in the installer guide for MICS?CICS 6.1 and BCM 3.5/3.6 software.
The first KIM's on a T7316E do not require power through a SAPS. If you go beyond 4 KIM's you will need a SAPS.
KIM's require 6.1 software and T73616E sets, they will not work on 6.0.
The KIM will not work on a M7324.
CAPS on M7324 sets do require power on USOC pins 3,6 for CAP1 and 2,7 for CAP2. On a T568A patch panel the white blue pair is used for the set, the white orange pair for CAP1,the green white wire and the white brown wire is used for CAP2.
You need to supply 24VDC via a SAPS.
A T7316E will support up to 9 OKIMs. If lines are assigned then OKIM must be enhanced (EKIM), there is a KSU max of 5 EKIM positions. The same as MICS for CAP set designation. There is no limit on OKIM positions.
BCM 3.5 is required for T7316E & KIM recognition
Bags,
I have installed a few KIMS. I can attest to the fact that they do not require secondary power up to a point. They have a large plug that goes in the bottom of the T7316E, and also some metal tabs on the side that slide into the 7316 so that the KIM stays attached to the 7316, unlike a 7324 with a CAP, that would flop around unconnected.
Thanks for the info. And by the way, I read what you wrote regarding the clown trying to have his install done via thread requests and I agree, that does not do this site justice, nor should he have his questions answered. Like you implied, untrained, unknowledgeable people like that take food out of the mouths of the people that really make a living in this industry..
